SURGICAL PROCEDURE
Arm Lift
TREATMENT OVERVIEW
Welcome to our arm lift surgery page, where we address concerns related to excess skin and sagging in the upper arm area. An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to remove excess skin and fat deposits from the upper arms, resulting in a tighter, more contoured appearance. This procedure is particularly beneficial for individuals who have experienced significant weight loss or aging-related changes that have left them with loose, flabby skin in the arm area.
Arm Lift Procedure with Dr. Sof
THE PROCEDURE
Considering an arm lift to achieve firmer, more toned arms? Discover what to expect when you choose Dr. Sofiane Rimouche for your arm lift journey:
Consultation and Evaluation: Your arm lift journey begins with a comprehensive consultation with Dr. Sof. During this initial meeting, Dr. Sof will listen attentively to your concerns, assess your arm anatomy, and discuss your goals for arm contouring. He will perform a thorough examination to determine if an arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is the most suitable option to address your needs.
Preparation: On the day of your arm lift procedure, you’ll arrive at the surgical facility prepared for your surgery. Dr. Sof and his team will ensure you’re comfortable and relaxed before administering anaesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.
Surgical Technique: Dr. Sof will employ advanced surgical techniques to remove excess skin and fat from the arms, creating a smoother, more contoured appearance. Depending on your unique anatomy and aesthetic goals, Dr. Sof may recommend either a traditional brachioplasty or a limited incision brachioplasty.
Traditional Brachioplasty: For patients with significant excess skin and fat on the upper arms, Dr. Sof may recommend a traditional brachioplasty. This procedure involves making an incision along the inner arm, from the elbow to the armpit, to remove excess tissue and tighten the skin, resulting in improved arm contour and definition.
Limited Incision Brachioplasty: For patients seeking to address moderate excess skin and fat on the upper arms with minimal scarring, Dr. Sof may recommend a limited incision brachioplasty. This procedure involves making smaller, discreet incisions in the armpit area to remove excess tissue and tighten the skin, resulting in a more toned appearance.
Closing Incisions and Recovery: Following the procedure, Dr. Sof will close the incisions with sutures and apply dressings as needed. You’ll be closely monitored in the recovery area before being discharged with detailed post-operative instructions. Dr. Sof will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your progress, address any concerns, and ensure a smooth recovery process.
Results: As you heal from the arm lift procedure, you’ll begin to notice firmer, more toned arms and improved overall arm contour. Dr. Sof’s approach aims to deliver natural-looking results that enhance your body shape while maintaining balance and symmetry.

THE BENEFITS
You may choose to undergo a Arm Lift for a variety of reasons which are personal to you. These may include:
An arm lift effectively removes loose or sagging skin, often caused by aging, weight loss, or genetics, resulting in a more toned and youthful appearance.
Individuals may opt for an arm lift to enhance the overall contour of their arms, achieving a slimmer and more proportionate look that complements their body shape.
By addressing concerns related to flabby or disproportionate arms, an arm lift can boost self-esteem and confidence, allowing individuals to feel more comfortable and confident in their appearance.
Removing excess skin and tightening the underlying tissues can make it easier to find clothing that fits comfortably and flatters the arms, expanding wardrobe options and enhancing overall style.

Like any surgical procedure, brachioplasty carries inherent risks. These may include infection, bleeding, scarring, nerve damage, and changes in sensation. THINGS TO AVOID AFTER ARM LIFT SURGERY
The following five steps will support your recovery
- Strenuous Activities: Avoid engaging in strenuous exercises or lifting heavy objects for several weeks following surgery to prevent strain on the arms and minimise the risk of complications.
- Smoking and Alcohol: Refrain from smoking and consuming alcohol during the recovery period, as they can impair healing, increase the risk of infection, and interfere with the body's natural healing processes.
- Sun Exposure: Protect your arms from direct sunlight and UV radiation by wearing protective clothing and applying sunscreen with a high SPF to minimize the risk of hyperpigmentation, scarring, and uneven healing.
- Tight Clothing: Avoid wearing tight or restrictive clothing that may rub against the incision sites and cause irritation or discomfort. Opt for loose-fitting, breathable garments to promote airflow and facilitate healing.
- Neglecting Follow-Up Appointments: Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments with Dr. Sof to monitor your progress, address any concerns or complications promptly, and ensure optimal healing and results.
POST OP ARM LIFT SURGERY AFTERCARE
It is vital all of our patients closely follow these steps
- Follow Proper Wound Care: Carefully follow Dr. Sof's instructions for wound care, including keeping the incision sites clean and dry, changing dressings as directed, and applying prescribed medications or ointments to prevent infection and promote healing.
- Wear Compression Garments: Wear compression garments as advised by Dr. Sof to minimize swelling, provide support to the arms, and help reshape the treated area. Follow the recommended duration for wearing compression garments for best results.
- Take Prescribed Medications: Take any prescribed medications, such as pain relievers or antibiotics, as directed by Dr. Sof to manage pain, reduce the risk of infection, and support the healing process. Do not skip doses or discontinue medications without consulting Dr. Sof.
- Maintain Healthy Lifestyle Habits: Follow a balanced diet rich in nutrients, stay hydrated, and avoid excessive alcohol consumption to support the body's healing process and promote optimal recovery. Avoid smoking, as it can impair healing and increase the risk of complications.
- Attend Follow-Up Appointments: Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments with Dr. Sof to monitor your progress, assess the healing of incisions, and address any concerns or complications promptly. These appointments are essential for ensuring proper recovery and achieving the best possible results from your arm lift surgery.

FAQS
Many women struggle with ‘bingo wings’ once they reach middle age. An arm reduction surgery or arm lift to remove the excess fat and loose skin can help to treat this condition.
The procedure will take around 1 – 2 hours, you will either be treated as a Day case or you may need to spend the night, Dr Sof will discuss this with you at your consultation
When you get home you’ll need to take things easy at first. Arrange at least a week off work and you’ll gradually be able to return to normal activity within four to six weeks. Light activity will be comfortable after around two weeks but you shouldn’t do anything too active – like go to the gym or take an exercise class – for around six weeks.
All patients will be given a pressure garment to wear for up 4-6 weeks after the treatment.
You will be left with a scar on the back of your arm, which will ease with time. The extent of the scarring will also depend on your skin type, age and the efforts you make to eat healthily and do the right exercises after the operation.
Yes, scarring is unavoidable with arm lift surgery, but Dr. Sof uses advanced techniques to minimise scarring and ensure the incisions are discreetly placed. Over time, scars typically fade and become less noticeable.
